3 venues, 5 hours of fantastic volleyball, 15 volunteers, 86 teams with their coaches and over 200 volleyball players!! It could only be the 11th Cardinal Sports Youth Cup!

On the 22nd of February, City of Edinburgh once again held the biggest and best junior volleyball tournament for boys and girls, aged from primary 4 all the way through to 4th year at high school! (pictured - Logan Darling, Jo Wallace, Cameron Gillen)

Every year has been a great success for the Edinburgh based tournament and this year was no different. Teams travelled from all over the country and from as far a field as Orkney to take part for the fun and shear competition of the CSYC.

Action at Ainslie Park

A lot of work goes into getting such a large tournament off the ground but when players stand poised to serve, waiting for the horn to go at 10am in Meadowbank LC, Ainlie Park LC and The Crags LC, its quite a spectacular sight.

The players conducted themselves in a professional manner and played some excellent volleyball throughout the competition. Every year the organisers of the CSYC continue to witness the level of volleyball increase. The players ability to control the game and produce some spectacular plays is a credit to the work being done by staff in schools and clubs all over the country. The enthusiasm of these coaches and volunteers was also great to see on a Sunday morning! Long may the development of our grass roots game continue and Im sure our National game will reap the benefits before long. (pictured - Zoe Hogg & Rebecca Goulden)
