Promotion to NL1 -A Short Journey to success

The group of players that you see today are more or less the same squad that have been with the club since they played in the Junior National League seven years ago. After retaining the title of Scottish Junior Champions without losing a match throughout the entire season, the squad of players had one last tournament together before they split up. The World Youth Games in London would mark the end of an era for the young Edinburgh squad who were destined to go their separate ways and join other National league Men’s teams like Falkirk VC and Pentland NUVOC VC.
The parting at the teams last official night out in London was an emotional one for both the coaches and players. But captain at the time, Barry McGuigan was not about to watch everything slip away. After a long talk with Coach Brownlee on the way back to Scotland he gave a ‘if you build it they will come’ speech and not long afterwards coach Brownlee began to build his dream.
From that moment on and to this day I cannot describe in so many words the time and effort that came with the many sacrifices that Coach Brownlee has made to make the team what it is today. But his efforts have not gone without reward, as the young team continued to grow stronger every season and topped every division they entered. Now playing top flight volleyball for the first time the young Edinburgh squad have set their sights on the ever swelling challenge of capturing the title as Scotland's number one team by winning the first division.
